Que curioso é ler uma notícia como esta, e pensar nas consequências. Basicamente é preciso uma "mãe" dadora que doe um dos seus óvulos. Depois, usando técnicas desenvolvidas na pesquisa sobre clonagem, será possível extrair o núcleo e practicamente toda a informação de DNA desse óvulo. Este fica então pronto a receber o núcleo com o DNA da mãe, que por exemplo não consiga conceber por ter problemas nas mitocôndrias (1 em cada 10.000). Este óvulo saudável quando fecundado terá 50% do DNA da mãe e 50% do pai, enquanto que da dadora só tem o "berço", a estrutura que lhe permite desenvolver.
Como podem agora aqueles que defendem a vida opor-se à investigação sobre clonagem?
I find this news really astonishing. One out of every ten thousand women cannot conceived due to mitochondrial problems in the egg cell. A new technique promisses to overcome this. Using techniques developed in cloning research, the nucleus of a donor's egg cell would be remove together with the DNA information, and replaced by those of the mother trying to conceive. This healthy egg would then when fertilized have 50% DNA information from the mother, 50% from the father, and from the donor only the structure to develop. Amazing, isn't it?
I'm curious to see how those who defend life above all things will stand on this "cloning" technique now.
